When
shopping for makeup, let everyone else go to the big department stores. You can
shop like a true New Yorker by going off the beaten path to one of New York’s
best-kept secrets – Cosmetic Market on East 37th Street in
Manhattan.
This spacious emporium is filled with makeup, skincare and hair care products
from many of your favorite brands-like Borghese, L’Oreal, Elizabeth Arden, and
Bobbi Brown.
These are likely to be discontinued items—but if you have a favorite shade of
lipstick that you can’t find anymore, or you’d like to try a new powder or
blush without spending too much, this is the place to visit. There are also
bins filled with applicators, brushes and sponges to keep you well supplied.
But they
go beyond cosmetics. If you head toward the back of the store, you’ll find a
treasure trove of cute make-up cases, overnight bags and other small
accessories – some are less than $10 (for ex. the
cute clutch pictured to step out to a cocktail party or dinner costs a mere
$7.00).
